Concensus is concerned with achieving Sustainable Communities …
How does it work?
Working with groups of around fifteen people from local communities, the Concensus initiative will provide the skills and knowledge you need to address the important issues affecting your community. Build your learning around the important issues of the day and the things that make your community an attractive, healthy, fair and prosperous place to live: a sustainable community.
What?
Each programme offers the opportunity for groups to produce a project work outcome of their own, answering the need you identify in your community.
These might take the form of:
- a mission statement,
- a plan for your group,
- a study visit,
- a publication,
- an exhibition,
- a project plan or event…
…or it might even take the form of a funding proposal for something more ambitious, or something else again.
Who?
Local Groups,Youth Groups,Women’s groups, sporting groups and cultural groups, management committees or just groups of people who want to do something for their community.
Why?
Many of us have lived through the destructive effects of violent conflict, and many more live with the divisions, the isolation and the deprivation resulting. There now exists an opportunity for all communities to benefit from the peace, but it wont just happen. We need to take positive steps to promote the changes that imply peace on an ongoing basis.
How?
The activities in the Concensus programme will support local people in agreeing an agenda and setting priorities to support them in playing a part in the sustainability of local communities. Activities are practical and based on locally identified need.
When?
As soon as you decide you need the services offered under this programme, you should contact us and we can agree an approach and a programme of activities. Our shortest engagement is a half day event, designed to inform members of your community about the approaches we support and our longest are thirty hour programmes of learning, or overseas residential visits.
Where?
Concensus programmes are intended to benefit local communities across the island and specifically across the region whose development has been most impacted by political violence and sectarianism. We can deliver benefits for a local area, or an interest group represented across a number of areas.
